A WENTWORTH FALLS KITCHEN DESIGNED FOR DANCING
The brief for this Wentworth Falls kitchen design required a complete transformation —taking an awkward, cramped and dark timber kitchen with no connection to the living spaces, transforming the space into one that felt open, warm, and genuinely welcoming while capitalising on natural light. During their briefing, our clients shared their vision of a bright country-style kitchen where they could cook, gather, and move freely—quite literally. Their favourite outcome? They now have enough room to dance together as they cook, along with an abundance of cleverly integrated storage that keeps everything beautifully organised and easily accessible. As an add on to the renovation, the client’s poky laundry was converted into a fresh new inviting and highly functional space with lots of storage, thoughtfully and cohesively designed to complement the adjoining kitchen design.
The first step in achieving this transformation was rethinking the layout. The original fridge placement blocked valuable natural light, making the space feel dark and smaller than it was. By relocating it, the design immediately unlocked brightness and improved flow. This change, paired with a new sink position beneath the window, established a stronger connection to the outdoors—now, everyday tasks are accompanied by calming views of the established garden beyond.
Functionality was a key element of the design with generous bench spaces and clever drawers beneath which allow the client to view their pantry items with ease – a forward-thinking approach to accessibility and storage. The Cosmopolitan white benchtops reflect the light in this new expansive kitchen, whilst ensuring a fresh aesthetic and durability. With ample room for preparation, serving, and socialising, making these spaces as practical as it is inviting.

Visually, the kitchen strikes a perfect balance between character and cohesion. The cabinetry features shaker profile doors hand-painted in Porters Sage semi-gloss, bringing the outdoors in with this beautiful green that complements the home’s existing green walls. The inclusion of paintable satin board—installed and finished on-site—adds another layer of craftsmanship, allowing for a tailored, cohesive result that integrates seamlessly with the rest of the palette, with the ability to touch up any marks with ease. Adding depth and contrast, bronze hardware from Momo Handles with matching bronze tapware give further warmth and a subtle touch of elegance.
For the kitchen splashback, Tierre specified Toulouse 60×240 gloss greige tiles, a versatile of warm beige blended with grey. By using the same tile in a gloss white finish for the smaller, darker laundry the space feels fresh and light while ensuring the two spaces remain cohesive in design.
Beyond aesthetics, the design prioritises flow and connection. The kitchen now opens effortlessly into the dining and living areas, creating a unified environment that supports both everyday living and entertaining. The once-cramped layout has been replaced with a flowing, bright open space that encourages movement and interaction.
Ultimately, this project is a reminder of how thoughtful design can completely reshape the way a home feels and functions. What was once confined and disconnected is now open, inviting, and full of life—a kitchen that doesn’t just serve a purpose but truly enhances the way the clients live…especially whilst they are dancing.
