NATURAL ELEGANCE: A REFINED KITCHEN DESIGN IN LEURA
Our very loyal Leura clients contacted Interior Designer Fiona Harding to request her services with a renovation of their new home. Phase one of the renovation was to redesign the entire floorplan and replace the kitchen, dining space, as well as the tile flooring. The client was looking to capture the stunning natural elements of the escarpment views, whilst ensuring the space offered a luxurious, contemporary and elegant feel, that would be replicated throughout the property. Fiona called on Janz Designs to collaborate with on bespoke elements of the luxurious kitchen.
The result is a contemporary style kitchen that encompasses the beauty and warmth of nature by using timber cabinetry and natural limestone flooring, paired with stunning metallic mosaic tiling and a contemporary artisan crafted natural quartz and brass feature light that lifts the space with a sophisticated elegance.
Fiona cleverly adopted a formation of curves cohesively throughout the interior design, to reflect the softness of natural form. This design motif crafted into the kitchen wall and island, has been replicated with the choice of tapware, cabinet handles, sideboard, dining table and even the s-fold curtains.
A curved glimmering rangehood offers a focal point of interest and contrast to the natural ‘matt’ textures of the timber, porcelain and stone. Ever changing light plays with the Italian Rock Aura metallic mosaic tiles, giving life to what might otherwise be a dark corner of the kitchen.
The floor to ceiling cabinetry was crafted from ‘Navurban’ timber in Tablelands. A cleverly concealed sliding pantry door was also crafted using ‘Navurban’ creating an uninterrupted flow along the wall.
The benchtops, splashbacks and conceal at the front of the island are crafted ‘Dekton’ porcelain in Almond. ‘Dekton’ is a carbon neutral ultracompact porcelain surface that offers premium durability as well as an exquisite feel to touch. This uniquely crafted surface has been consciously inspired by the beauty and aesthetics of natural stone.
The curved handles, drawer knobs and gooseneck tap were selected in Iron Bronze, chosen for its softness and warmth against the floor to ceiling timber and almond tone of the benchtops.
A black granite sink was chosen to recede into the design, rather than compete with the bronze, timber and stone elements of the kitchen design, along with the integrated appliances, including the fridge which is hidden within the cabinetry.
Above the kitchen, handcrafted, made to order textured ceramic ceiling lights pin-spot the work areas.
Featured above the dining table a warm, dimmable Christopher Boots Abacus pendant light, crafted by Artisans from aged brass and quartz crystals provides a balance between the light and warmth of the kitchen to the dining area with a touch of metallic glamour. The subtleness of the elongated structure ensures the beautiful view of the escarpment outside can still be enjoyed from the kitchen.
The Fanuli dining table and sideboard were selected by Fiona to replicate the story of curves, found throughout the interior design.
To complete the space, s-fold curtains, crafted from a Mokum ‘tactility’ natural textile are ceiling mounted using pillar brackets in ironstone, ensuring the cohesive Interior Design. By using a ceiling mount, the curves of the s-fold drapes fall with structure and grace, subtly masking the exterior light and coolness of the Mountains climate.
