A FENG SHUI INTERIOR DESIGN FOR THIS LEURA HOME

When a Leura client, a practicing ‘Sound Healer’ asked Thornton & Blake to consider the principals of Feng Shui as part of their interior design brief, we were only too happy to accept the challenge. Working together with a Feng Shui consultant, Anne Hogarth, Director, Design and Decoration, learned the use of curved lines, wood, metal, earth, and water inspired colours, as well as metallics throughout was an important consideration for the design. With this in mind, Anne went to work on sourcing furniture, textiles and paint colours to create this client’s very own space of Zen.

Starting with the paint spec, Porters ‘Gold’ felt like a natural choice of paint colour for the walls of the bedroom to pair with the bed head which the client sourced herself.

Anne selected a range of textiles for the custom made bedding, cushions and blinds, carefully considering the textures that would support the inspired elements, wind, water, fire and metal, such as the gentle curve in the fabric of the custom made blind. Of course ensuring these elements were present in the furnishings, including the lamps and bed end stool that we sourced were important considerations.

For the client’s sound treatment room, the use of neutral textured shear, printed with a ‘wave-like’ form, once again adopts the feng shui philosophy for interior design.

The chairs, custom designed from the Molmic ‘Lounge Designer’ Collection were covered in Butterbean pure linen, pairing with the texture of the drapes, to perfection.

In the lounge room, the circular shapes continue through the selection of dining chairs, coffee table and cushions. Similarly in the choice of natural materials, timber and linens on the chairs and custom l-shaped lounge as well as the unique stone table top on the coffee table. We love that the circular room also embraces the Feng Shui philosophy, with custom made drapes by T&B in a textured indigo textile.
