A brand with a cast iron British history

ESSE cookers and stoves have a storied history as the heating solutions of choice for a number of significant figures.

The founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, was a passionate advocate of the use of ESSE cookers. Using no other brand of heating solution in her hospital in Balaclava.

Famous British explorers Ernest Shackleton and Robert Falcon Scott relied on the food and warmth provided to them by an ESSE product. They and their expedition team took their efforts further afield than any before them and tested the capabilities of ESSE in one of the world’s most inhospitable environments.

ESSE - made available in the Blue Mountains by Thornton & Blake

Thornton & Blake offer the full range of ESSE cookers; wood, electric and hybrid stoves that are a pleasure to run. Both economical and sustainable, the ESSE fireplaces, stoves and cookers, that we make available to our customers throughout the Blue Mountains, are a point of pride for us at Thornton & Blake.

Their long history has seen their product offering evolve, but they never lose touch with the foundations that have made their brand and their products what they are today. ESSE have a range that has one foot firmly planted in each their long history, and another in their contemporary cooking and heating solutions.

In addition to wood and electric cookers, we also stock two fantastic wood heaters produced by ESSE, the ESSE 700 and the ESSE 775.

In 2022, the next generation of ESSE Range Cookers will arrive. This all-new range
is a complete reboot of the ESSE Range Cookers. With four electric models, an
upgraded wood model and an all-new Hybrid, this is the most exciting time to be
